ABOUT SALVATION

BIBLICAL STUDY. ( Level 1)

                     THE SALVATION

  1. INTRODUCTION

Adam and Eve’s sin ( Genesis 3:8-24 ) has serious consequences in the world. Driving men away from God by depriving them of all the glory of God. Through this fall, sin entered the world ( Romans 5:12 ) , totally upsetting the order of God’s creation. Its effects are felt in all areas.

  1. Spiritual Consequences
  • Spiritual death (severance of relationship with God) ( Isaiah 59.2 ; Eph 2.1-3 );
  • condemnation, the wrath of God ( Romans 5.18a ; John 3.36 ) ;
  • slavery to Satan (Ephesians 2:2; John 8:44 ) .
  • The loss of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
  • We were disenfranchised in Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world. (Ephesians 2:12)

2 . Physical consequences

3. Moral consequences

4. Consequences of the fall on the faculties of man.

Despite the fall man still has remarkable faculties but he is inclined to use them for evil.

And yet, God has not abandoned man; God made promises and he fulfilled them in Jesus Christ. ( Romans 5.15-21 )                                                        B. What is Salvation? (Definition)

  1. it is being saved from hell (eternal death, or the wrath of God) at the end of the world, on the day of judgment.
  2. salvation is an eternal spiritual deliverance that God grants to everyone who receives Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour.

In other words, to have Salvation is to be saved; it is to have eternal life or to be born again.

Anyone who does not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be condemned and thrown into the fire for eternity

C. Who can give Salvation?

Only the Lord of lords, Jesus Christ can give Salvation. Because it is written:

  • ”There is no salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
  • “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)  D.How can we have salvation?

Anyone who receives Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior can have salvation. It is written :

  • “ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life .” (John 3:16)
  • ‘ ‘But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, which were born, ” (John 1:12)
  • ‘ ‘If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and if you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing with the heart that one arrives at righteousness, and it is by confessing with the mouth that one arrives at salvation, according to what the Scripture says. ”(Romans 10:9-10)

d.1. What does it mean to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour?

  • Abandon the world, sin to abandon oneself into the hands of Jesus Christ;
  • Accept to be led by the Holy Spirit who lives in us the days we have believed;
  • Agree to hand over the direction of one’s life to Jesus Christ so that He becomes the new driver of our new life;
  • Accept to die in its old ways, its carnal behavior and let Christ live in us.

d.2. Requirements of Salvation or New Birth.

  • The person who wants to be born again (saved) must first have the desire for salvation ie the need to be saved.
  • He must be beginning to feel guilty for having offended God with his behavior.
  • He must be aware of the commitment he is making. Otherwise, he will confess the Lord Jesus Christ with his mouth and remain a carnal Christian or pastor.

Salvation or the new birth requires of the person who desires it, a sincere and total Repentance of the way of living in the past. Hence Repentance implies:

  • Sincere grief or regret for having offended God (Acts 2:37)
  • The sincere confession of all the sin committed in the past.
  • To renounce and refuse to live in one’s sins. (Abandon the Old Man or the Carnal Man)”If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. The old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • The will to fix everything.
  • E. What happens in our life when we receive Jesus Christ;

In other words when we are born again or when we have Salvation.

  1. We have eternal life . “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
  2. We have Pardon and Remission of all his sins . That is to say, God forgives him and forgets all his sins. ” In him we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace,” Ephesians 1:7
  3. We have redemption . That is to say, the Redemption of our souls. By this, we define redemption as the Redemption of our souls from bondage to the devil and from sins to be returned to our original owner, God. This was possible by paying a very high price (Ransom) which is the BLOOD of Jesus Christ. ” In him we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace,” Ephesians 1:7;”who gave himself as a ransom for all. This is the testimony given in its own time,’ 1 Timothy 2:6; ”For you have been bought with a great price. So glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which belong to God . 1 Corinthians 6:20.
  4. We have adoption . That is to say we have become ”sons of God”. ” Having predestined us in his love to be his adopted children through Jesus Christ,”. Ephesians 1:5.
  5. We have the deliverance and transference of our souls, from the Kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of God. ” Give thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to partake of the inheritance of the saints in the light, who has delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son of his love” . Colossians 1:12-13.
  6. We have the gift of the Holy Spirit with which we are sealed for the day of the rapture of the Church. “ Peter said to them, Repent, and let each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:38.
  7. Our conviction is overturned . “ There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Indeed, the law of the spirit of life in Jesus Christ has set me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2 , “ he blotted out the act whose ordinances condemned us and which remained against us, and he destroyed it by nailing it to the cross; he stripped the dominions and the authorities, and delivered them publicly in spectacle, triumphing over them by the cross.” 2: 14-15
  8. Satan and all the demons (dominions, authorities, princes of this world of darkness) and all kinds of impure spirits no longer have power over us. ‘ ‘he blotted out the act whose ordinances condemned us and which stood against us, and he destroyed it by nailing it to the cross; he stripped the dominions and the authorities, and gave them up publicly, triumphing over them by the cross.” 2: 14-15
  9. The Gates of the Day of the Dead (hell) closed . “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven . Matthew 16:18
  10. God hears our prayers again. ” If anyone turns his ear away from listening to the law, His very prayer is an abomination.” 28:9
